I've an announcement to make. This is one of the biggest decision I've made in my 15 years.
As you can see from the title of this blog, yes I've decided to be a pescetarian. For those of you who doesn't know what it is,
As you can see from the title of this blog, yes I've decided to be a pescetarian. For those of you who doesn't know what it is,
here - Occasionally used to describe those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. Although the word is not commonly used and a pescatarian is not technically a vegetarian, more and more people are adopting this kind of diet, usually for health reasons or as a stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet.
If anyone of you are getting bored of this post, please go to the third last paragraph of this post.
I've told my family members about it and they really support me and think that it's good to try although they are not one themselves. My parents didn't go like 'OMG NO. You'll lose all nutrients you ought to have.' Haha they were very positive about it!
To people who think that I won't have proteins after being a pescetarian, (excluding fish), then all the vegetarian would have died a long time ago. Hahah there are things like whole grains, beans, tofu, soy products, nuts etc..
Also, I don't believe in people who say they can't live without meat. DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S THE MEANING OF 'can't live without'?!!!!! Oxygen, water and food are some examples of things you can't live without. NOT MEAT. I know its hard not to eat meat especially when you're eating meat your whole life. But just simply think of the animals whose lives are sacrificed becuz of YOUR SELFISHNESS. HUMANS WERE NOT MEANT TO EAT MEAT.
THOSE YUMMY FOOD YOU PUT INTO YOUR MOUTH WERE MEANT TO LIVE.
If you're still with me, please at least read the next 2 paragraph.
How are chickens slaughtered -Chickens arrive at the "processing plant" in crates about 1 metre square, typically containing twelve to fifteen chickens. The crates are opened and the chickens are hung upside down by their ankles on a chain line which will carry them through the meat processing process. An electrical charge will render them unconscious within ten seconds of their being placed on this line.
At this stage, the chickens should be unconscious but not dead. They will then have their throats and major arteries cut by a worker with a knife. If their heart is still beating they will bleed out and produce the clean white meat we recognise as chicken
How are pigs slaughtered - The animal has chians put onto its legs. The animal is then struck in the head with an air powered gun that shoots out a metal rod. This just knocks the animal out so that the heart it still beating. Then the chians are tightened and attached to the ceiling and the animal is the lifted up.The throat of the animal is then slit and the animal bleeds out. The blood will basically shoots out as the heart of the animal is still beating. When the blood stops draining out the animal will die for obvious reasons. This process takes around two mintues.
I'm just gonna list these 2. It's already so saddening! So many little lives out there being sacrificed becuz we're selfish and ignorant. I don't know, I just felt that everything that has a life should deserve to have a chance to live!!!!!!! Isn't it sad how animals like pigs and chickens for example, are born to be killed? I know we're all gonna die someday, but imagine dying without even living! (if you get what I mean)
People say stop animal abuse, like cats, dogs and rabbits. You guys are disgusted when people in china eat dog meats etc and thinks its inhumane. But how different are you from the people you claimed 'inhumane'?!!!!! THINK PEOPLE THINK. L O G I C.
Ohkay let's move to what's the most common question. Why. I mean, yeah I've stated how cruel is it. But I wouldn't come to this conclusion if it's purely those reasons!
1) Peer Pressure
Ohkay it's not exactly peer pressure but I have a super good + close friend who's a vegetarian. (I just put peer pressure becuz I don't know what to put for this, but even if it is, I suppose it is a positive type of peer pressure!) Ya so, back to main point. I've known her for close to 4 years and everyone knows I like vegetarian food! In camps, we would have to state our food diet and most of the time, I would put myself as vegetarian! I have this thought of becoming vegetarian 2 years back perhaps it's due to her influence.
But why didn't I become one? Haha the thought of not being able to eat my favourite mac spicy kills me inside. But after finding out how they are killed (from a blogger), my heart is totally sold.
2) 'Brainwashed'
Ya so, I came across to a blogger's blog last night and she talk about the good things about being a vegetarian and how eating meat is so bad. I couldn't help but feel REALLY REALLY REALLY guilty..
Then today morning, my mum bought me breakfast - beehoon with chicken cutlet. While I was eating that piece of meat, I thought about the blogger's post I read last night. For today's dinner, I ate mac spicy. And I actually felt disgusted eating that PIECE OF MEAT that I actually loved sooooooo much! That's when I made up my mind. I'm going to be a pescetarian.
Ohh, and to people who are still reading (I doubt there is except Rouying, since the blogpost is so damn boring), why not vegetarian but pescetarian? If you read the definition, people who are p, or in my case I'm treating is as a 'stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet'.
I have totally no idea how this decision of mine will change my life, or how it is going to affect my life. But what I'm certain of is, I'm disgusted by the last piece of meat I just stuffed in my mouth (mac spicy) which was NEVER the case.
I've thought of how I'm going to have cravings for meat etc. But I'm just gonna give it a go! Who knows, I will be vegetarian a year later! And, I'M NOT BEING RASH ABOUT THIS, I actually reflected and thought for awhile before telling my family members about it.
Anyway, just to let you all know, Albert Einstein and Steve Jobs were both vegetarian! hahahahaha who knows I might own a orange company or become a scientist when I am vegetarian.
I'm not sure if I can successfully be a pescetarian/vegetarian (if I'm sucessfully a pescetarian), we'll if there's a chance to try, why not! Moreoever, it's for a good cause isn't it!! I might fail, but at least i tried.
Disclaimer : I'm not telling you to be a vegetarian or whatever, I'm just stating my reasons and stand. It's up to you and the choice is yours.
